The Dark Wizard (DW) is one of the most powerful classes in MU Online S6, capable of obliterating groups of monsters with spells like Inferno, Aqua Beam, and Evil Spirit. To unlock the class's true potential and progress to Soul Master (first upgrade) and then Grand Master (second upgrade), two specific quests must be completed. This guide covers every step with precise detail — no surprises.

Why Do the Quests

The quests are not just a rite of passage. Each class evolution in MU Online S6 unlocks:

  • Soul Master (level 150+): Access to the Soul Barrier skill, which increases defense proportional to ENE. An additional skill slot and increased base damage on all spells.
  • Grand Master (level 400+, after 2nd quest): Storm Blast skill unlocked. Access to the Master Level (ML) system and mastery skills. Grand Master exclusive equipment equips correctly.
Nota: The Dark Wizard does NOT have a simplified first or second quest like the Magic Gladiator. He follows the standard path: 1st quest at level 150 and 2nd quest at level 220.

First Quest — Evolution to Soul Master (Level 150)

Prerequisites

  • Dark Wizard character at level 150 or higher
  • Recommended build at this point: ~120 ENE, 80 AGI, 60 VIT, remaining STR (minimum to equip decent staffs)
  • Recommended staff: Staff of Destruction +5 or higher, or Serpent Spellbinder if available
  • Sufficient Zen: have at least 1,000,000 Zen reserved (for repair costs and emergencies)

Items You Need to Collect

The first quest requires delivering 3 specific items to NPC Marlon in Devias:

ItemQuantityDropped By
Scroll of Archangel1Invader / Death Knight in Dungeon
Blood Bone1Skeleton Warrior or Hound in Dungeon
Tear of Elf1Given by Elf Soladin in Noria
Dica: The Tear of Elf is not dropped — you receive it by speaking with Elf Soladin, located in Noria near the entrance (coordinates ~170, 130). Talk to her before going to the Dungeon so you already have the item in your inventory.

First Quest Step-by-Step

1 → Talk to Elf Soladin in Noria (170, 130) → Receive the Tear of Elf
2 → Go to the Dungeon (entrance in Lorencia ~120, 232)
3 → Farm on Dungeon 1st floor: kill Skeleton Warriors and Hounds until Blood Bone drops
4 → Farm on Dungeon 2nd or 3rd floor: kill Death Knights and Invaders until Scroll of Archangel drops
5 → With all 3 items in inventory, go to Devias (via portal or warp)
6 → Talk to Marlon in Devias (183, 32)
7 → Select the quest option → deliver the items
8 → Character automatically evolves to Soul Master

Dungeon 1st Floor — Blood Bone

  • Monsters: Skeleton Warrior (level 26), Hound (level 30)
  • Location: entire 1st floor area of the Dungeon
  • Blood Bone has a low drop rate (~2-5%). Expect 15-30 minutes of farming
  • Use Meteorite or Inferno to quickly clear groups

Dungeon 2nd/3rd Floor — Scroll of Archangel

  • Monsters: Death Knight (level 56), Invader (level 58)
  • Note: monsters here deal relevant damage. With a pure ENE build, use Soul Barrier if already available, or maintain distance and use area skills
  • Scroll of Archangel also has a low drop rate. Alternate between the 2nd and 3rd floors to vary the monsters
Atenção: If the server has custom drop rates, rates may be higher. Even so, never go to the Dungeon 2nd/3rd floor without at least a Staff +4 and Shield +4 or decent armor. A pure ENE DW has low HP and dies quickly in careless pulls.

Second Quest — Evolution to Grand Master (Level 220+)

The second quest is considerably more demanding. You will need items from mid-to-high level maps, meaning your character must be well-equipped before attempting it.

Prerequisites

  • Soul Master at level 220 or higher
  • Recommended build at this point: ~200 ENE, 100 AGI, 80 VIT, remaining STR
  • Minimum equipment: Staff +9 (ideally with +skill% option), Ancient or +9+luck armor
  • Wings: recommended to have at least Level 1 Wings (Wings of Soul) to reduce damage taken
  • Zen: have at least 3,000,000 Zen before starting
Nota: Level 1 Wings for the Dark Wizard/Soul Master are the Wings of Soul (crafted in the Chaos Machine). They increase magic damage by 10% and damage absorption by 10%. Well worth having before the 2nd quest.

Items You Need to Collect

ItemQuantityDropped By
Flame of Death Beam Knight1Death Beam Knight in Tarkan
Horn of Hell Maine1Hell Maine in Atlans
Feather of Dark Phoenix1Dark Phoenix in Icarus

Second Quest Step-by-Step

1 → Make sure you have level 220+ and adequate equipment
2 → Go to Atlans (entrance in Lorencia via warp NPC or portal)
3 → Farm in Atlans 1st/2nd floor: kill Hell Maines until Horn of Hell Maine drops
4 → Go to Tarkan (access via warp, requires level 160+ on standard warp)
5 → Farm in Tarkan 1st sector: kill Death Beam Knights until Flame of Death Beam Knight drops
6 → Go to Icarus (access via Fairy Elf NPC in Noria with Devil's Eye, or via warp)
7 → Farm in Icarus: kill Dark Phoenixes until Feather of Dark Phoenix drops
8 → With all 3 items, return to Marlon in Devias (183, 32)
9 → Select the 2nd quest option → deliver the items
10 → Character evolves to Grand Master

Second Quest Spot Details

Atlans — Horn of Hell Maine

  • Hell Maine appears on floors 1, 2, and 3 of Atlans
  • Atlans 1st floor is the most accessible; Hell Maines are abundant throughout the entire area
  • Surrounding monsters: Lizard Warrior (level 78), Sea Witch (level 80). Beware of Sea Witch — she uses magic and can catch low-VIT builds off guard
  • Use Inferno or Chain Lightning to clear the area. With high ENE (200+), kills are fast

Tarkan — Flame of Death Beam Knight

  • Death Beam Knight is found in Tarkan's 1st sector, especially in the central and eastern areas of the map
  • Tarkan is significantly more dangerous than Atlans. Tantalos and Iron Wheel monsters deal heavy physical damage
  • Recommended: keep Soul Barrier active constantly and maintain distance. DW should not tank in Tarkan
  • If in a party, the Dark Knight or Blade Knight tanks while you deal damage from range
Dica: In Tarkan, position yourself near walls or map corners. This prevents pulling multiple groups simultaneously. Use Evil Spirit (area damage) for efficient kills without needing to get close.

Icarus — Feather of Dark Phoenix

  • Icarus is an aerial map. To access it, you need the Devil's Eye item (dropped by Dark Phoenix in Icarus itself, ironically) OR use the warp with the appropriate level depending on server settings
  • Dark Phoenix has high HP and deals heavy magic damage. With an ENE build, use Aqua Beam or Evil Spirit and constantly retreat
  • The Feather of Dark Phoenix drop is rare (~1-3% on standard servers). Bring enough HP potions — at least 50 Large HP Potions for a comfortable session
Atenção: Icarus is frequently used by high-level players for farming. If the map is crowded, you may have difficulty killing Dark Phoenixes before other players do. Try playing during low-traffic hours on the server.

Stat Allocation After Each Evolution

After Becoming Soul Master (levels 150-220)

Priority: ENE above all else. With Soul Barrier active, you gain decent defense even without high AGI/VIT.

  • ENE: every available stat point goes here, except the minimum needed to equip items
  • AGI: minimum needed to equip armor (generally 100-130 total AGI in this range)
  • VIT: 80-100 fixed points for basic survival
  • STR: only the minimum to equip the main staff (usually 50-70 STR)

Example distribution at level 220: STR 60 | AGI 120 | VIT 100 | ENE 550+

After Becoming Grand Master (levels 220-400)

Keep prioritizing ENE. After Grand Master, you gain access to the Master Level system and can invest mastery points that amplify magic damage, reduce cooldowns, and enhance skill effects.

Example distribution at level 400: STR 60 | AGI 130 | VIT 120 | ENE 1090+

Nota: After Grand Master, the Storm Blast skill becomes available. It deals massive area damage and is the main PvM skill in the endgame. Prioritize unlocking it in the Master Level tree as soon as possible.

Common Mistakes and How to Avoid Them

1. Going to the Dungeon Too Early Many beginners attempt the 1st quest as soon as they reach level 150 without adequate equipment. The result: frequent deaths, EXP loss on servers with death penalty, and frustrating farming sessions. Reach level 160-170 with Staff +6 or better before going.

2. Forgetting the Tear of Elf The item from Elf Soladin in Noria is frequently overlooked. Always get it first — it's free and saves an extra trip.

3. Accidentally Selling Quest Items Scroll of Archangel, Blood Bone, Horn of Hell Maine, and other quest items look like common items. Mark them in your inventory or keep them in a separate position to avoid accidentally selling them to NPCs.

4. Ignoring Wings Before the 2nd Quest Attempting Atlans and Tarkan without wings drastically increases damage taken and farming time. Wings of Soul (1st quest in the Wings system) are worth far more than the cost of Chaos Jewels to craft them.

Conclusion

The Dark Wizard quests are challenging but rewarding. Evolving to Soul Master unlocks Soul Barrier, which completely transforms the class's survivability. Evolving to Grand Master opens the Master Level system and Storm Blast, establishing the DW as one of the best PvM classes in MU Online S6. Follow each step patiently, keep quest items separate in your inventory, and Grand Master is guaranteed.

Perguntas frequentes

What is the minimum level to do the Dark Wizard first quest?

The minimum level is 150. Before that, NPC Marlon will not offer the quest dialogue. It is recommended to reach level 180 with +7 or better equipment before attempting it.

Where is Marlon located to turn in the quest?

Marlon is in Devias at approximately coordinates (183, 32). He is the only NPC responsible for class evolution for all characters in S6.

What happens if I die while collecting quest items?

Nothing — quest items are not dropped on death. You can continue collecting normally after respawning.

Do I need a party for the second quest?

It is not mandatory, but highly recommended for the second quest. Monsters in Atlans and Tarkan (level 150+) deal high damage and have a lot of HP. A party with Dark Knight and Elf significantly reduces collection time.
