What Is the Grand Master Hybrid Build?

The Dark Wizard class evolves into Soul Master at the first class change quest (level 220) and then into Grand Master at the second class change quest (level 400). The hybrid build breaks from the tradition of stacking only ENE and distributes points into STR as well, expanding equipment options and significantly improving survivability in aggressive farm spots.

Nota: In S6, the Grand Master can equip Staff weapons and mage-type shields. The Staff of Archangel requires 150 STR and provides a magic damage bonus. Investing in STR up to ~200 points unlocks this and other equipment options without crippling your damage output.

The core philosophy is straightforward: ENE remains the primary stat, but you no longer ignore STR to the point where you are locked into low-tier gear or dying constantly while farming in Karutan.


Stat Distribution by Level Range

Level 1 to 150 — Building the Foundation

In this range, focus exclusively on ENE. The Grand Master is still a Dark Wizard and Soul Master at this stage, and the damage of Energy Ball, Telekinesis, and Ice Arrow scales directly with ENE.

Level 100:  20 STR        | 20 AGI        | 250 ENE
Level 150:  20 STR        | 20 AGI        | 400 ENE
Dica: Through level 150, farm in Devias (Yeti, Assassin) and Lost Tower 1-3 (Dark Knight, Balrog). Do not spend points in STR yet — you do not need physical defense at these spots if you use Teleport to escape dangerous situations.

Level 150 to 300 — Transitioning to the Hybrid

Starting at level 150, begin investing progressively in STR to prepare the character for mid-to-high tier equipment requirements.

Level 200:  60 STR  | 40 AGI  | 700 ENE
Level 250:  100 STR | 60 AGI  | 1000 ENE
Level 300:  140 STR | 80 AGI  | 1300 ENE
Atenção: Do not spend AGI indiscriminately. AGI on the Grand Master increases defense and attack speed, but the return per point is low compared to ENE. A minimum of 80-100 AGI is sufficient to maintain an acceptable cast speed in this range.

Level 300 to 400 — Consolidating the Hybrid

This is the most critical phase. You need to meet the STR requirements for high-quality equipment before completing the second class change quest and becoming a Grand Master.

Level 350:  170 STR | 90 AGI  | 1600 ENE
Level 380:  190 STR | 95 AGI  | 1800 ENE
Level 400:  200 STR | 100 AGI | ~1950 ENE
Nota: With 200 STR and 100 AGI at level 400 you gain access to: Staff of Archangel +9 or higher (requires 150 STR), complete Sphinx Set with Luck and Skill options, and the Guardian Shield (requires 130 STR). This combination provides substantially higher defense than the traditional full ENE mage.

Level 400+ — After First Reset

If the server uses a reset system, the distribution changes. After each reset, stats return to the minimum and you redistribute with greater precision.

Post-reset 1 (recommended for aggressive farm):
  200 STR | 100 AGI | Remainder in ENE (~2200+ ENE with items and blessings)

Post-reset 2 (shifting toward more damage):
  180 STR | 80 AGI  | Remainder in ENE (~2500+ ENE)

Dica: Prioritize a Staff of Archangel +9 with Luck and Skill options before chasing Excellent items. A Staff of Archangel +11 +28 Skill will outperform many Excellent staves that lack damage options.

Armor — Sphinx Set

The Sphinx Set is the natural choice for the hybrid Grand Master because it combines mana bonuses with reasonable physical defense.

Endgame alternative: Legendary Set (Excellent) with mana +% and defense options. Harder to obtain but superior to Sphinx in the long run.

Shield

The Guardian Shield +9 (requires 130 STR) is essential for the hybrid build. It adds significant defense and makes the Grand Master much more resilient in PvP and in farm spots with aggressive monsters.

Atenção: Many players skip the shield on Grand Master assuming it slows their cast speed. In S6, equipping a shield does NOT reduce the DW's cast speed — always use one when possible.

Key Skills and Usage Priority

PvM Rotation

Solo spot:
Ice Arrow (to apply slow) → Chain Lightning (area damage) → Ice Storm (when available)

In party:
Nova (group pull) → Chain Lightning → defensive Teleport if needed

PvP Rotation

Open distance with Teleport → Ice Arrow to slow the target →
Chain Lightning as main damage → Ice Storm for final burst
Nota: Ice Storm is the Grand Master's most powerful skill in S6 and scales directly with ENE. At 1950 ENE, Ice Storm reaches damage values that compete with full ENE builds — the difference is roughly 8-12% less raw damage, offset by the hybrid's considerably better survivability.

Farm Spots by Level Range

Level 150-220: Atlans 1-2

Monsters: Stone Golem, Bahamut, Vepar Suggested coordinates: Atlans 1 (130-150, 80-120) — central area with high Stone Golem density

Farm with Ice Arrow to apply slow followed by Chain Lightning. Stone Golems have high HP but move slowly — ideal for training the hybrid rotation.

Dica: In Atlans, carry large quantities of mana potions. The Ice Arrow + Chain Lightning rotation burns mana quickly, and a Grand Master without high ENE will feel constrained here.

Level 220-300: Lost Tower 5-7

Monsters: Death Knight, Hell Spider, Chain Scorpion Suggested coordinates: Lost Tower 7 (100-140, 30-80) — dense Death Knight spawn

With 100+ STR and the Sphinx Set, the hybrid Grand Master withstands Death Knight physical attacks without dying rapidly. A full ENE build would die much more often at this spot.

Level 300-350: Tarkan 1

Monsters: Zaikan, Ice Monster, Chaos Castle Goblin Suggested coordinates: Tarkan 1 (180-220, 150-190) — Zaikan spawn area

Zaikan is aggressive and deals relevant physical damage. The hybrid build's extra defense makes a real difference here. Use Ice Storm whenever the skill is off cooldown.

Level 350-400: Aida 1-2

Monsters: Cursed Soldier, Dark Elf, Shadow Pawn Suggested coordinates: Aida 2 (70-110, 150-190) — Cursed Soldier concentration

Aida 2 is the best XP spot in this range for the Grand Master. Cursed Soldiers die quickly to Ice Storm and drop Jewels of Bless and Soul at a good rate.

Level 380-400+: Karutan 1-2

Monsters: Kundun's Knight, Hammer Scout, Screaming Deadman Suggested coordinates: Karutan 2 (100-140, 80-120)

Atenção: Karutan 2 requires a minimum of +9 on all gear pieces. With Sphinx Set +9 and Staff of Archangel +9, the hybrid Grand Master can farm here sustainably. A full ENE build with weaker armor will die frequently at this spot.

First Quest — Level 220

1. Speak with Lisa the Blind Girl in Noria (170, 100)
2. Collect 1x Ring of Warrior
3. Kill Balron in Dungeon 4
4. Return to Lisa → Evolve into Soul Master

Second Quest — Level 400

1. Speak with the Dark Wizard NPC in Lorencia (118, 110)
2. Complete kill objectives: 100x Death Knight, 100x Bloody Wolf
3. Collect 1x Broken Sword (drops from Death Knight in Lost Tower)
4. Turn in and evolve into Grand Master
Nota: The second quest at level 400 unlocks the Grand Master's advanced skills including Ice Storm. Prioritize completing this quest before advancing to endgame farm spots.
