MU Online beginner's guide: how to start from scratch
Everything a new player needs to start strong in MU Online: classes, first levels, starter maps, resets and essential tips.
MU Online is an action MMORPG released in 2003 that is still alive thanks to a huge community and thousands of servers. If you are just starting, this guide covers the essentials.
What is MU Online
MU Online takes place on the continent of MU, a dark-fantasy world threatened by Kundun, a demonic lord. The game is known for its item system (+0 to +15, with excellent and ancient), group events and reset progression.
Choosing your class
| Class | Style | Difficulty |
|---|---|---|
| Dark Knight | Melee, tanky | Easy |
| Dark Wizard | Area magic, high damage | Hard |
| Fairy Elf | Support and ranged | Medium |
| Magic Gladiator | Hybrid force/magic | Medium |
| Dark Lord | Pets and guild command | Medium |
Your first levels
- Start in Lorencia, the starter map;
- Move on to Noria (great for Elfs) or Devias;
- Use the Safe Zone to rest and organize;
- Save Zen for potions and repairs.
Understanding resets
The reset is the core of progression on most servers. At max level, you return to level 1 and gain bonuses — usually extra stat points. More resets, stronger character.
Essential tips
- Don't sell Excellent or Ancient items without checking their value;
- Join a guild early;
- Do daily events (Blood Castle, Devil Square) for XP and items;
- Learn about Jewels before refining gear.
