A strong guild is what turns MU Online from a solo game into a community experience — and it is a prerequisite for the game's biggest event, the Castle Siege. But creating the guild is the easy part; keeping it active, coordinated and victorious takes real leadership: the right recruitment, well-defined roles, alliances and constant communication. This guide shows how to found a guild and, more importantly, how to run it so it grows and wins instead of dying in silence.

Before you start

Leading a guild means managing people, not just items. Set aside time to organize schedules, mediate conflicts and keep the group motivated. Before creating one, decide on the goal: casual farming, PvP, or competing for Castle Siege? The goal defines the kind of member you recruit and how you organize everything. Have the required level and Zen and, ideally, an external communication channel (Discord) ready.

Step 1 — Create the guild

Once you reach the required level (usually 100+) and have the necessary Zen, open the guild interface (the G key), choose to create a guild, set the name and design the guild mark (the emblem that appears on your character). You become the Guild Master, with the power to invite, kick and assign roles.

Step 2 — Define roles and structure

An organized guild has a clear hierarchy:

RoleFunction
Guild MasterOverall leadership, decisions and Union
Battle Master / AssistantCommands in PvP and Castle Siege
RecruiterInvites and onboards new members
Active membersThe base that farms and shows up to events

Delegating roles keeps everything from depending on one person and keeps the guild alive even when the leader is offline.

Step 3 — Recruit the right members

Quality over quantity. Look for active players who show up to events and communicate. Recruit in:

  • Server chat and busy cities (Lorencia).
  • The server's forum and Discord.
  • Group events, where you can see who plays well.

Make the guild's goal clear in the invite — that way you attract people who fit the group.

Step 4 — Build communication and culture

Guilds die from silence. Set up a Discord with channels for announcements, strategy and chat. Schedule recurring activities (group farming, events, PvP practice). Recognize those who help. A community that talks and has weekly goals retains members far better than one that only exists in the game.

Step 5 — Form alliances (Union) for the Castle Siege

For the Castle Siege, one guild alone is almost never enough. Form a Union: several allied guilds under a common leadership. The main Guild Master coordinates schedules, decides who attacks and who defends, and aligns the strategy. Choose reliable allies — fragile alliances break in the middle of a siege.

Step 6 — Prepare the team for events

Before the Castle Siege and other guild events:

  • Confirm attendance and timing in advance.
  • Assign roles (damage, tank, support/buff).
  • Make sure key members have potions and war items.
  • Agree on rally points and command signals.

Leadership tips that hold a guild together

  • Be present: an absent leader empties the guild.
  • Have visible goals: the next Castle Siege, the next group boss.
  • Handle conflicts quickly: make it clear what is acceptable.
  • Recognize effort: promote those who show up and help.

Common errors and fixes

SymptomLikely causeFix
Guild emptying outNo goal and no communicationCreate weekly goals and an active Discord

Strong guild checklist

  • Guild goal defined (farming, PvP, Castle Siege).
  • Guild created with a name and guild mark.
  • Roles delegated (battle master, recruiter).
  • External communication channel (Discord) active.
  • Recruitment focused on active members.
  • Union/alliance formed for the Castle Siege.
  • A routine of events and weekly goals established.

A well-run guild is the most valuable asset a player can build in MU Online — it conquers castles, dominates events and keeps the fun alive for years. With the group ready, the next big goal is to master the Castle Siege; and to understand how guilds and the siege are configured on the server, the MU Online server creation guide shows the behind-the-scenes.

Frequently asked questions

What level do I need to create a guild?

You usually need to be level 100 or higher and have a certain amount of Zen (this varies by server). You create the guild through the guild interface (the G key), setting a name and a guild mark. The creator becomes the Guild Master, with the power to invite, kick and assign roles.

What is the ideal guild size?

It depends on your goal. For Castle Siege you want the maximum number of active members allowed (plus alliances/Union). But a guild of 20 active, coordinated players is worth more than one of 80 inactive ones. Prioritize activity and event attendance, not just member count.

What is a guild Union/Alliance?

It is the union of several guilds under a common leadership, essential for Castle Siege, where a single guild rarely has enough people. The main Guild Master organizes the Union, coordinates schedules and distributes roles among the allied guilds during the siege.

How do I keep members active and engaged?

With clear goals (weekly events, group farming, Castle Siege), out-of-game communication (Discord), roles that recognize those who help, and present leadership. Guilds die from silence and lack of purpose, not from lack of items. Organization and community keep members around.

Is it worth joining an existing guild or creating my own?

If you are new, joining an active guild greatly speeds up your learning and farming. Creating your own makes sense when you already have a group of friends or want to lead and compete for Castle Siege. Leading is work — it requires time and people management, not just items.
