The Jewel of Life handles a different aspect of refining: the item's additional option — that extra stat that appears beyond the +x level. It's what turns a good item into an excellent one.
What the "additional option" is
It's a bonus separate from the refine level. For example, an item can be +9 +16 — the "+9" is the level (Bless/Soul) and the "+16" is the additional option (Jewel of Life).
How to use it
- Apply the Jewel of Life to the item;
- On success, the additional option increases;
- On failure, there's a penalty (varies by server).
