What is Icarus

Icarus is one of the high-level maps in MU Online, set on an island floating in the clouds above the continent of MU. Visually distinctive for its celestial landscape and ethereal architecture, the map represents a significant difficulty leap from zones like Dungeon or Atlans, serving as a bridge between mid-game content and endgame maps such as Kalima and Kanturu.

Accessing Icarus requires the use of Level 2 Wings (or higher) to fly to the island. Characters without wings cannot enter via the flight route — the alternative is to use a Scroll of Ascension or be invited by a party leader who already has access. This creates a natural progression barrier: those present in Icarus have already completed at least the Wings L2 crafting chain, which indicates a minimum level of character investment.

Nota: Icarus was introduced in earlier versions of MU Online and remains relevant in Season 6 as an intermediate farming zone and a source of key ingredients for advanced wing crafting.

Icarus Monsters and Statistics

The map is divided into zones of increasing difficulty from south to north. The southern region holds mid-level mobs accessible to players newly arrived on the map, while the north and northeast concentrate the most dangerous, highest-reward monsters.

Death Angel12522,0007509204157,200
Atenção: Hell Maine has an area-of-effect (AoE) attack with a radius of 3 tiles. Do not cluster characters near it during farm sessions — a single strike can eliminate multiple players at once if they stand together without adequate defense.

Special Monster Mechanics

Gorgon: Has a temporary petrification ability that immobilizes the character for 2-3 seconds. During this state the character cannot attack or use skills, but can be healed by allies. Elfs with party heal are highly recommended when facing multiple Gorgons.

Cursed Wizard: Casts curses that temporarily reduce the target's ATK or DEF. Curses last approximately 8 seconds and cannot be manually removed — only waiting for the timer works. Keep HP high when engaging groups of Cursed Wizards.

Death Angel: An elite mob that spawns in limited numbers in the far northeast. It has no special ability beyond high damage, but its resilience requires characters with +9 equipment or above for efficient kills.

Relevant Drops and Crafting Ingredients

Icarus is sought primarily for its crafting drops for Level 2 Wings and high-value items. The table below lists the most significant drops by source monster:

Dica: Hell Maine has the highest drop rate for Lott of Condor and Soul of Condor on the map. If your goal is to accumulate ingredients for Wings L2, concentrate your farm on this monster. A character with high kill speed can gather the required ingredients in 3 to 6 hours of intensive farming depending on server rates.

Level 2 Wings Crafting Chain

The process of creating Wings L2 involves multiple steps and passes through Icarus as the source of key ingredients:

Lott of Condor (farm in Icarus)
+ Soul of Condor (farm in Icarus)
    + Jewel of Chaos
    + Item +4 or higher
→ Combine in the Chaos Machine
→ Level 2 Wings (random result by class)

Wings L2 by class:
DK → Wings of Dragon
DW → Wings of Soul
Elf → Wings of Sprite / Fairy
MG → Wings of Ruin [MG has no L1 Wings]
DL → Cloak of Lordship
Sum → Wings of Curse

Farming Strategies by Class

Dark Knight and Blade Knight

The DK is one of the most efficient classes in Icarus thanks to its combination of high defense, HP and physical damage. With Ancient equipment such as the Hyon (Dragon Ancient) or Kantata (Scale Ancient) sets, the DK can tank multiple mobs simultaneously while using Whirlwind or Combo for area kills.

Recommended positioning: north-center of the map, between the Gorgon and Hell Maine spawn points. Use Rageful Blow to pull groups and finish with Whirlwind.

Dark Wizard and Soul Master

DW and Soul Master rely on distance to maximize DPS. The elemental damage of their skills (Ice Storm, Evil Spirit, Chain Lightning) is highly effective against Icarus mobs. Always maintain 6+ tiles of distance from mobs to avoid receiving melee damage.

The Sebone (Bone Ancient) or Heras (Ashcrow Ancient) set is recommended to balance magic resistance with Energy bonuses for increased damage output.

Elf and High Elf

The Elf has two viable approaches in Icarus:

  1. Solo farm with Multi-Shot: High attack speed and range allow the Elf to kill Balrams and Sorams quickly in the southern region without excessive risk.
  2. Party support: The Elf's healing and attack/defense buffs multiply the efficiency of any group, making it possible to farm Hell Maine and Death Angel continuously without excessive potion use.

Recommended sets: Gywen (Bow Ancient) for DPS, Agnis (Legendary Ancient) or Sylion (Sunlight Ancient) for hybrid support.

Magic Gladiator

The MG has no Level 1 Wings, so in Icarus it already uses Wings L2 (Wings of Ruin). With its combination of physical and magical skills, the MG can adapt damage type to match each mob's resistance profile. The Chrono (Divine Ancient) set enhances both Twisting Slash physical damage and magical spell output. Note: the MG has no 1st or 2nd class change quest.

Dark Lord and Lord Emperor

The DL has the most powerful party command mechanic in the game through the Command (CMD) stat, which enables more followers and increases the attack power of battle horses. In Icarus, the DL performs best as a party leader. Individual damage is competitive with Anubis or Enis (Red Spirit Ancient) sets, but the DL's real strength lies in the group multiplier through CMD.

Summoner and Dimension Master

The Summoner uses summoned creatures to tank while casting damage spells. In Icarus, summons absorb mob aggro, allowing the Summoner to deal safe ranged damage. The Gaia (Dark Soul Ancient) and Broy (Venom Mist Ancient) sets are the primary choices. The Bloody Summoner and Dimension Master class changes expand the skill repertoire and improve summon durability.

Events and Boss Spawns in Icarus

Icarus does not have an exclusive fixed map boss, but it can serve as the location for Golden Invasion and Red Dragon Invasion events depending on server configuration. During invasions, golden and red mobs with enhanced drops appear scattered across the map, including in Icarus.

Nota: On standard Season 6 servers, the Gorgon functions as a mini-boss with a slower respawn timer (approximately 30-45 minutes) and a higher drop rate than most common mobs. Mark its spawn location and revisit regularly to maximize Lott of Condor drops.

Final Considerations

Icarus occupies a strategic position in MU Online Season 6 progression: it is simultaneously a sustained farming zone for characters at level 180-250 and an indispensable source of Wings L2 ingredients, which in turn unlock access to endgame zones and significantly increase character power. Mastering the map — knowing spawn points, surviving Hell Maine's AoE attacks, and optimizing farm routes — is an important milestone in any character's MU Online journey.

Perguntas frequentes

What is the minimum level to enter Icarus?

There is no automatic level restriction enforced by the map itself, but the monster difficulty demands at least level 180-220 with competitive gear to survive comfortably. Characters below that threshold die quickly to mobs in the northeastern region.

Does Icarus drop Level 2 Wings ingredients?

Yes. Lott of Condor and Soul of Condor — the key ingredients for crafting Level 2 Wings — drop from specific Icarus monsters such as the Gorgon and Hell Maine. This makes Icarus one of the most sought-after maps for crafting Wings L2.

Can Hell Maine be farmed in a group?

Yes, but aggro is individual. Hell Maine hits in an area of effect (AoE), so the group must maintain distance and avoid clustering. High-defense, high-HP characters should tank while DPS attackers strike from range.

What is the difference between Icarus and Devil Square as EXP sources?

Devil Square is a timed event with fixed rewards per round. Icarus is a permanent map with continuous EXP generation and drops. For sustained long-term farming, Icarus is superior; for quick EXP in short sessions, Devil Square can be more efficient depending on your level.
