Why Party Composition Matters in MU Online S6

In MU Online Season 6, solo farming has its place, but a well-built party multiplies experience gained, increases drop rates, and allows you to push into high-risk maps far sooner than you could alone. With 6 available classes — Dark Knight, Dark Wizard, Elf, Magic Gladiator, Dark Lord, and Summoner — each one fills a distinct role, and understanding those roles is what separates an efficient party from a group that constantly wipes or wastes potential.

This guide covers the ideal compositions for the main game scenarios: open-map EXP farming, boss hunting, invasion events, and Blood Castle/Devil Square.

Nota: The party EXP bonus in S6 scales with the number of members and the level difference between them. Parties where all members are within 30 levels of the leader receive the maximum bonus.

The Role of Each Class

Before building any composition, you need to know what each class brings to the group:

Dark Knight (DK / Blade Knight / Blade Master)

  • Primary role: tank and melee DPS
  • Strength: high VIT and HP pool, Swell Life increases the entire group's HP
  • Priority stat: STR for damage, VIT for survivability (tank build: 200+ VIT before level 200)
  • Key skill: Swell Life (area HP buff for nearby allies)

Dark Wizard (DW / Soul Master / Grand Master)

  • Primary role: long-range nuker and crowd control
  • Strength: highest magic DPS in the game, Soul Barrier reduces incoming damage for the party
  • Priority stat: ENE (minimum 500 ENE by level 300 to properly scale spell damage)
  • Key skills: Soul Barrier (damage reduction buff) and Nova/Chain Lightning

Elf (Muse Elf / High Elf)

  • Primary role: support, healing, and attack buffing
  • Strength: Heal restores allies' HP, Defense/Attack Buffs raise the group's DEF and ATK
  • Priority stat: ENE for heal potency (recommended 300+ ENE), AGI for attack speed
  • Key skills: Greater Defense, Greater Damage, Heal

Magic Gladiator (MG / Duel Master)

  • Primary role: hybrid DPS (melee and magic)
  • Strength: versatile, no dependence on class quests, access to DW spells and DK skills
  • Priority stat: balanced STR + ENE (common build: 300 STR / 300 ENE by level 300)
  • Note: MG does not complete first and second class quests like other classes do

Dark Lord (DL / Lord Emperor)

  • Primary role: party buffer and secondary DPS
  • Strength: Party Increase Level raises the entire group's EXP; Charisma raises allies' ATK
  • Priority stat: CMD (DL-exclusive) to empower Fenrir and leadership skills; STR for damage
  • Key skills: Charisma (area ATK buff), Fire Burst, Summon (teleports allies to your location)

Summoner (Bloody Summoner / Dimension Master)

  • Primary role: magic DPS and debuffer
  • Strength: Drain Life recovers HP while dealing damage, weakening skills reduce monster defense
  • Priority stat: ENE (400+ for efficient damage scaling)
  • Key skills: Sahamutt, Neil, Lagle (summons) and Requiem

Composition for Open-Map EXP Farming

Level Range 1 to 150 — Lorencia, Noria, and Devias

In this early phase, small parties of 2 to 3 members are sufficient. The ideal composition is:

DK (tank) → pulls monsters and holds aggro
Elf (support) → Heal and ATK/DEF buffs
DW or MG → nuker to clear packs quickly

Recommended target monsters:

  • Level 1-50: Budge Dragon (Lorencia), Hound (Lorencia), Spider (Noria) — low HP, ideal for beginners
  • Level 50-100: Werewolf (Devias), Ice Monster (Devias) — good early jewel drops
  • Level 100-150: Poison Bull Fighter (Atlans), Lizard King (Atlans)

Level Range 150 to 300 — Atlans, Tarkan, and Lost Tower

A full 5-member party starts to pay off here. Ideal composition:

DK (Blade Knight) → main tank, keep Swell Life active at all times
Elf (Muse Elf) → constant healing, Greater Defense always on
DW (Soul Master) → Soul Barrier + area-of-effect nuking
DL → Charisma buff + Party Increase Level for maximum EXP
MG or Summoner → second DPS to increase clear speed

Target monsters:

  • Level 150-220: Bahamut (Atlans 2), Thunder Lich (Lost Tower 7)
  • Level 220-280: Zaikan (Tarkan), Mutant (Tarkan 2)
  • Level 280-300: Balgass's Barracks (before the main boss)
Dica: In Tarkan, position the DK in the center of the monster pack and have the DW use Chain Lightning. The skill chains through multiple enemies, and with the Elf keeping Swell active, the DK can absorb the counter-damage without issue.

Composition for Boss Hunting

Bosses like Kundun, Balram, Selupan, and Dark Elf require specific compositions because they deal powerful area attacks and have extremely high HP pools.

DK (Blade Master) → main tank, minimum 500 VIT with +9 Ancient set
Elf → continuous Heal on the DK; never stop casting
DW (Grand Master) → maximum ENE possible, Nova and area skills
DL → Charisma active to boost everyone's ATK
Summoner → Drain Life for self-sustain + constant DPS

Essential rules for boss hunting:

  • The DK must be the only one receiving damage. Everyone else stays behind the boss.
  • The Elf prioritizes Heal on the DK and casts Greater Defense before the pull.
  • DW and Summoner stay at maximum skill range.
  • DL activates Charisma before combat begins and renews it every 60 seconds.
Atenção: Never engage a boss without Swell Life active on the DK. Kundun deals massive damage in the first seconds of combat and can instantly kill an unprepared tank.

Composition for Events: Blood Castle and Devil Square

Blood Castle (BC)

Blood Castle is an individual event, but if the server allows party play inside, position your members as follows:

DK → absorbs damage from guards and Ancient Archers
DW → eliminates monster groups with area spells
Elf → minimal support, focus on speed to destroy the Statue quickly

Recommended levels by BC tier:

  • BC 1: level 15-080
  • BC 3: level 130-180
  • BC 5: level 230-280
  • BC 7: level 330+

Devil Square (DS)

DS favors compositions with high area DPS:

MG → excellent in DS by combining magic and melee in the enclosed space
DW → Chain Lightning and Inferno for large crowds
Summoner → summons act as extra DPS inside the square
DK → tank to ensure the Elf and DW don't get overrun
Elf → constant buffs and healing, especially in DS 4+ where monsters hit harder

Advanced Party Management Tips

Loot distribution: agree beforehand whether loot will be round-robin or free-for-all. Jewels of Bless and Soul have high value, and disputes over them can destroy otherwise great parties.

Cooldown communication: the Elf should call out when Heal is on cooldown so the DK knows to fall back. The DW announces when Soul Barrier expires (approximately every 60 seconds).

Positioning: DPS always stays behind the tank. In Lost Tower corridors, DK leads, Elf stays in the middle, DW and MG hold the rear. The Summoner can use summons as an additional barrier.

Mana management: parties without a mana restoration source should carry enough Elixirs and Ale. DW burns mana quickly during intense farming; the Elf has no mana restore skill in S6.

Dica: A Dark Lord with high CMD can use the Fenrir to move quickly between dispersed party members and renew buffs efficiently. Invest in CMD (minimum 200 for a functional Fenrir) before maximizing STR on the DL.
